i've been wanting to say these for quite some time alr, but it seems to slip out of my mine whenever i come back home zzz.
anyway, i think people are really changing hell lots around us, just that sometimes its so subtle you don't really notice. there are however, more obvious changes in certain people.
take for instance bishan gay.
when i was in ri, he'd always gaze and smile at me.
but now that i'm in rjc, whenever i walk past kfc (i still do see him sometimes), he dosen't freaking smile at me anymore! ): and when i look back, i kinda miss it and regret not waving back etc.
~
well there's 2 things we can learn from here:
1) People will change, and it's probably because you did.
we see everyone changing all around us, and we judge and criticise them for becoming more waturfed, but we fail to realise that we could actually have had a role in the reason they changed, and how they changed. this dosen't apply to strangers of course.
anyway i think the most important drawback from it is that, we should always look at ourselves, what are our character flaws, whether or not we ourselves have changed, then evaluate if we're actually in a position fit to criticise others.
i wanna counter my arguement but it's damn weird, but still.
hey i don't quite agree, i think that we should critisize others if they haven't changed for the better (quite subjective zzz we won't go there), BUT we should bestly give constructive criticism, those that won't make others emo and cry and sob about how pathetic they are. after all, only the eye outside the visual field sees the visual field most completely, as compared to those within the field.
well sometimes they need a wakeup call, so abit of hardcore judgements are occasionally fine i guess (:
2)Forget regret.
we shouldn't wait for things to pass before we learn to cherish them. sound damn kleeshay but i think it's really true. when you start missing/regretting something that's already in the past, nostalgia kicks in.
which goes through this process:
nostalgia > reminescence > indulging in happy memories / self-pitying in regret > no escape ftw until someone shakes you back to reality (Y)
cold, harsh reality.
well we really should weigh the pros and cons here.
reminiscing feels oh so good since you got happy memories, and you got self pity for the bad memories. we all know that self-pity's real fun and dandy; why should we even sacrifice all of these for the harsh awakening to the ocean of reality?
lol it be quite simple.
because we're living beings. this means that we're living at this moment, in the present. and whatever we do during this moment can chart our path in the future. should we dwell in the past, we really won't be achieving anything our whole lives.
nostalgia is like drugs.
after tasting it, you feel like you're ^^ and you don't wanna leave the feeling. but it's addictive too; you'll want it over and over and on and on till you drop dead without accomplishing anything but snorting memoryjuana.
kinda living a wasted, useless, unworthy life, isn't it.
well i wanna counter myself again so there.
nostalgia is good in moderation, just like marijuana. k not marijuana but uhh opium. yes opium. opium helps provide temporary pain relief, but over reliance would ggxx you. similarly, nostalgia helps bring you back on the right track in life.
when you're down and out, think about happy moments and realise that it's possible to be happy in this screwed up world. think about things you regretted and find the reason to set your life straight and move on.
so ya i didn't really think of a conclusion, and i don't bother. it's up to you to decide for yourself how you're gonna face the changes that's happening around you.
one thing's for sure, it's not gonna leave anytime soon, so either way, you gotta live with it.
wishing;
