I have loved many things.
Like the clouds in the scorching Summer heat,
and rain that freezes the skin;
The scent of cool Autumn breezes,
and the gentle softness of the earth during Spring;
The cosiness of a convenience store at the dead of night;
The slight chill in the air after school;
The smell of the blackboard duster;
The rawr of a faraway truck,
echoing deep in the night...
And I wanted us to experience them together, always.

Puff the magic dragon
The song is believed by many (including one Jonathan Russell) to refer to smoking marijuana, due to references to paper, dragon ("draggin'"), puff (smoke), traveling "along the cherry lane" (the burning ember of a cigarette or joint is called a cherry, and moves up the cigarette's length as it burns), and Hanalei (Honahlee) is a town in Hawaii known for marijuana use. This theory led to the song becoming a hippie anthem. The authors of the song have repeatedly and vehemently denied any intentional drug reference.[4] Peter Yarrow himself insists that "Puff" is about the hardships of growing older, not drugs.[5] He has also said of the song that it "never had any meaning other than the obvious one".[6]

Puff, the magic dragon lived by the sea And frolicked in the autumn mist in a land called honah lee, Little jackie paper loved that rascal puff, And brought him strings and sealing wax and other fancy stuff. oh
Puff, the magic dragon lived by the sea And frolicked in the autumn mist in a land called honah lee, Puff, the magic dragon lived by the sea And frolicked in the autumn mist in a land called honah lee.
Together they would travel on a boat with billowed sail Jackie kept a lookout perched on puffs gigantic tail, Noble kings and princes would bow wheneer they came, Pirate ships would lower their flag when puff roared out his name. (hi i'm paul HAHA)
Puff, the magic dragon lived by the sea And frolicked in the autumn mist in a land called honah lee, Puff, the magic dragon lived by the sea And frolicked in the autumn mist in a land called honah lee.
A dragon lives forever but not so little boys Painted wings and giant rings make way for other toys. One grey night it happened, jackie paper came no more And puff that mighty dragon, he ceased his fearless roar.
His head was bent in sorrow, green scales fell like rain, Puff no longer went to play along the cherry lane. Without his life-long friend, puff could not be brave, So puff that mighty dragon sadly slipped into his cave. oh!
Puff, the magic dragon lives by the sea (present tense!) And frolicked in the autumn mist in a land called honah lee, Puff, the magic dragon lives by the sea And frolicked in the autumn mist in a land called honah lee.

Children's Song by R.S. Thomas
We live in our own world, A world that is too small For you to stoop and enter Even on hands and knees, The adult subterfuge. And though you probe and pry With analytic eye, And eavesdrop all our talk With an amused look, You cannot find the centre Where we dance, where we play, Where life is still asleep Under the closed flower, Under the smooth shell Of eggs in the cupped nest That mock the faded blue Of your remoter heaven.
